Little Italy has been established in Potsdam since 2001. Darin Richards has been running the pizzeria since May of 2008. Built in 1821 the building that houses Little Italy is the oldest standing sandstone structure in Potsdam. Sewall Raymond and Liberty Knowles, both popular and prominent businessmen in the early 1800's, built the dwelling together.
In the first year of owning the restaurant Darin worked hard to established a new customer base, bringing in more of a family atmosphere. In a blind taste test their pizza was voted number one in Potsdam in August of 2008. In April of 2009 we participated in a Chicken Wing Fly-By put on by the local Chamber of Commerce and won 2 out of 3 categories. With holding the title for most unique flavor and most crispy. The jumbo wings are a must-have!
We have proudly taken into consideration customer suggestions for the menu. We have added french fries and gravy, poutine, chicken noodle soup, fried mushrooms, fried cauliflower and a numerous amount of other appetizers and pizzas. In the winter of 2010 a new pizza like sandwhich was erected and named the Sandstoner, after the local highschool.
The pizza dough is made fresh 3 to 4 times per day and Little Italy offers 6-8 different types of pizza-by-the-slice for lunch and dinner. Meat Stuffed, Penne a la Vodka, and Buffalo Chicken are a few of the favorites. Little Italy is always introducing new recipes, adding to the menu and offering specials.
